Our Story

Culture Corner Detroit began with a simple yet powerful idea. Our visionary founder, Eddie McClenney-Parry, expressed his desire to create a nonprofit centered around Juneteenth, envisioning a space where Detroit’s Black community could come together to celebrate, connect, network, and engage in meaningful community work. What started as an idea quickly turned into a dynamic brainstorming session between Eddie and Jarel McRae, two individuals deeply passionate about uplifting and empowering the Black community.

As their vision took shape, they realized the potential for something much greater—an organization dedicated to not just celebration, but also education, community outreach, and the arts. From that collaboration, Culture Corner Detroit was born.

Culture Corner Detroit is dedicated to empowering Black communities by providing opportunities to build connections, learn about our rich history, network, and celebrate the essence of Blackness. We strive to cultivate a space where our heritage is honored, our stories are shared, and our futures are brightened through unity and collective growth.

More than just an organization, Culture Corner Detroit is a cornerstone for our community—a place where Black culture is preserved, promoted, and celebrated. Through our commitment to education, arts, and outreach, we aim to create lasting change and inspire future generations.

Our story is just beginning, and we invite you to be a part of it.
